Opened on December 12, 1997, this post office is housed in a small tin structure on the banks of the Beagle Channel. The walls are adorned with stamps and stickers left by travelers who visited this southernmost post office in South America. In the past, navigators and adventurers would stop here to send messages to their loved ones. With advancements in communication, the practical need for this service has declined, transforming it into a unique tourist attraction. Today, you can still send postcards from here to anywhere in the world for a small fee.
The only place further south where you can send or receive mail is the Antarctic Exploration Museum & Post Office on Goudier Island in Antarctica.
Know Before You Go
The post office is located within Parque Nacional de Tierra del Fuego in Bahía Ensenada. Ensure you have an exact address and postal code if you plan to send a postcard.
