Antarctica & the Falklands: Sail & Fly the Drake Passage
Discover two remarkable regions of the Southern Hemisphere on a 14-day expedition aboard Silver Endeavour, departing January 2, 2027, from King George Island and concluding in Puerto Williams, Chile. Your journey begins with a charter flight to Antarctica, eliminating the outbound Drake Passage sea crossing and allowing you to begin exploring the polar wilderness directly. Sail through the Antarctic Sound past enormous tabular icebergs from the Larsen Ice Shelf before spending five full days discovering the Antarctic Peninsula, where guided Zodiac outings and shore landings reveal glacial fjords, impressive ice formations, penguin colonies, humpback whales, and seals. Potential exploration sites include Paradise Bay, Lemaire Channel, Port Lockroy, Petermann Island, and Deception Island, depending on weather and ice conditions. After Antarctica, experience the legendary Drake Passage during two days at sea, enjoying onboard lectures, spa facilities, dining, and opportunities to watch albatrosses and petrels. The expedition then reaches the Falkland Islands, where visits to Carcass Island, New Island, and Port Stanley introduce thriving seabird colonies, distinctive island scenery, and local history. Finally, navigate the Beagle Channel to Puerto Williams on Navarino Island before flying back to the mainland.

Day by day

Day 1: King George Island: An Airborne Arrival in Antarctica
Your expedition opens with a different approach to reaching Antarctica: instead of spending the beginning of your voyage crossing the Drake Passage by ship, you arrive directly by charter aircraft. The flight takes you to King George Island, part of the South Shetland Islands, where Silver Endeavour is ready to welcome you aboard. After embarking, settle into your suite and become acquainted with the expedition team who will accompany the journey. As the day progresses, the ship prepares to leave King George Island behind. By late afternoon, Silver Endeavour is underway, heading south toward the Antarctic landscapes that form the first major chapter of the expedition. The evening brings a welcome dinner, providing a fitting introduction to the days of polar exploration ahead.
Day 2: Antarctic Sound: Among the Floating Giants
The Antarctic Sound provides a dramatic introduction to the scenery of the White Continent. Here, enormous tabular icebergs dominate the surrounding waters. Having broken away from the Larsen Ice Shelf, these immense formations resemble floating islands, creating an extraordinary setting for the day's navigation. As Silver Endeavour travels through the sound, the Antarctic coastline also offers opportunities to observe colonies of gentoo and Adélie penguins. The day may include your first Zodiac landing, depending on conditions and the expedition team's plans. Whether viewing the icebergs from the ship or experiencing a possible shore landing, the Antarctic Sound reveals the immense scale and distinctive character of the region. This first encounter with continental Antarctica sets the stage for the five days of peninsula exploration that follow.
Day 3: Antarctic Peninsula: Into the Heart of the Expedition
Day 4: Antarctic Peninsula: A Landscape Shaped by Ice
Day 5: Antarctic Peninsula: Encounters with Polar Wildlife
Day 6: Antarctic Peninsula: Discovering the Frozen Coast
Day 7: Antarctic Peninsula: Completing Five Days of Discovery
Day 8: Drake Passage: Following the Route of Historic Explorers
Day 9: Drake Passage: Ocean Navigation and Onboard Experiences
Day 10: Carcass Island and New Island: Two Wildlife-Rich Landings
Day 11: Port Stanley: Discovering the Falkland Islands' Capital
Day 12: At Sea: A Day to Reflect on the Journey
Day 13: Puerto Williams: Sailing Through the Beagle Channel
