Day 1: Puerto Madryn, Argentina

Welcome to Puerto Madryn, Argentina! Your journey begins in the heart of northern Patagonia, celebrated for its sandy shores bustling with marine biodiversity. You're welcome to arrive at your convenience today. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel, settle in, and savor some leisure moments in "the gateway to the Peninsula Valdes." Whether strolling through town, savoring local Argentinean cuisine, or simply unwinding by the seaside, the day is yours to explore as freely as an albatross. Until the optional icebreaker meeting later in the evening, you have the liberty to discover at your own pace. Following the briefing, consider joining fellow travelers for dinner at a nearby restaurant, exchanging anticipations for the forthcoming Antarctic expedition.

Day 2: Embarkation in Puerto Madryn

Today marks the beginning of your 20-day journey aboard the Ocean Endeavour. Your expedition commences as you set sail towards the Falkland Islands, where you'll embark on a voyage inspired by the pioneering spirit of Sir Ernest Shackleton. Shackleton, revered as one of the greatest polar explorers, led the British Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition from 1914 to 1916. His ambition was to traverse Antarctica from the Weddell Sea to McMurdo Sound via the South Pole. However, their vessel, the Endurance, became trapped in ice off the Caird Coast, initiating an epic tale of survival. Through the remarkable leadership and resilience of Shackleton and his team, each member persevered against the harsh Antarctic conditions, leaving an indelible mark on exploration history.

Sea Kayaking

Under full instruction from your sea kayaking guide, experience true tranquillity as you paddle through clinking ice floes and realise the enormity of the surrounding scenery. Look out for breaching whales, lounging seals and penguins zipping alongside your kayak. Some experience is required.

Ice Camping

Camp out on the ice and experience the silence which blankets the continent by night. This is your chance to completely connect with this ethereal ice world – wrap up warm and embrace the Antarctic elements.

Snowshoeing

Get a spring in your step when you slip on a pair of snowshoes in Antarctica. Enabling you to easily scale gentle slopes, this unique activity allows you to access hard to reach places and seek out the most impressive views.

Photography

Learn to capture wildlife and landscape shots in a small group photography program, including critiquing sessions and editing classes. Plus, Explorer Boat excursions with a dedicated photography expert on landings.

Explorer Boats

Achieve the best views and photographs from a forward facing Explorer Boats. They allow you to sit comfortably and securely while crackling through the ice-strewn waters. Look out for wildlife such as penguins, seals and whales as you cruise.

Yoga

It doesn’t get more serene than complimentary yoga classes to the tune of glacial scenery. Join the most unique exercise setting in the world after a day of exploration. Classes are regular but are dependent on weather conditions and swell.
