The expedition begins in Longyearbyen, where guests board Discoverer for the journey south through the Arctic. Mandatory briefings and safety drills take place before the vessel gets underway, providing the necessary introduction to the voyage and onboard procedures. Discoverer then leaves Adventdalen and begins its 18-day route toward Iceland. Longyearbyen serves as the starting point for an itinerary that will connect Svalbard with Bear Island, the Lofoten Islands, Jan Mayen and East Greenland before ultimately reaching Reykjavík.
